This book reminded me forcibly of Den Of Vipers, except it wasn't as well thought out and more rushed than DoV. (And I thought DoV wasn't very good beyond its spice and humor.)The dynamics between the Triad boys & Scarlet are so similar to those of the Vipers men and Roxy except with the Triad and Scarlet the initial animosity lasted all of one second before Sebastian is simping for her and she's fine staying with them whereas with Roxy and the Vipers there was at least more of a period of struggle and conflict between them upon her capture which is much more credible to read and creates more tension.The author Dana is undeniably a good writer, she paints a vivid mental picture with her words of the book's scenes, but the plot and characters themselves are one note, rushed, and poorly executed. I would have loved if this was the draft of her book and she tuned those elements that needed more time and attention. 4.5/Stars & 3/SpiceSummary: Criminal / RH RomanceScarlat (Scar) the FMC, on the run from her family of organized criminals, knows all about Danger, Wealth, and Corruption, and she has been hiding out in one place she hoped to not get caught. The Triad...Sebastian, Tristan, and Elliott leaders of their own criminal empire. They want her out of their area, cause they want her family out of their business. The Triad’s desires do not align with Scar’s.Review:This debut author rocked it! Wow, reeled me into this story faster than most seasoned writers can do.Scar is the FMC you love, she has grit, stubbornness (not willing to take a back seat to her life while a guy makes the decisions) and owns her sexuality. When faced with the Triad, things turn quickly into some very good steam & spice! The book has some seriously great writing and descriptive characters you will want to know more about. As much as we hate a cliffie, this one was good. Hook, Line and Sinker...can’t wait for book 2 in the series, cause I’m sold in Dana’s writing!
